The revered Amarnath Yatra is now in full swing, with devotees from across the country heading to seek blessings at the holy cave shrine after undertaking the stunning yet challenging trek. The annual pilgrimage remains open for only a brief period each year and will continue until August 28, 2026. 56,000+ Pilgrims Take Amarnath Yatra In Just 3 Days

According to DD India, more than 56,000 pilgrims have already offered prayers at the Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir since this year’s yatra began on July 3. On Sunday, the third day of the annual pilgrimage, 24,648 devotees reached the holy cave, situated at an altitude of 3,880 metres, via the twin routes of Baltal and the traditional Pahalgam-Chandanwari track.

During the first two days of the yatra, 32,313 pilgrims had completed the darshan. With Sunday’s turnout, the cumulative number of devotees visiting the shrine has risen to 56,961.

Despite partly cloudy weather, the pilgrimage continued smoothly on both routes. The Baltal and Nunwan base camps witnessed a heavy influx of devotees as the annual yatra progressed through the traditional 48-km Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the shorter 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district.

Board Urges Registration Before Yatra

Seeing the heavy rush of pilgrims, the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has again urged devotees to register before arriving at the base camp. According to The Hindu, the unregistered pilgrim arrival poses not only a security threat but also an infrastructural challenge for the board.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has issued an advisory asking unregistered pilgrims to postpone their journey for a few days. As per the latest update, all registration slots have been booked until July 9. From Monday, only registered pilgrims will be allowed to proceed towards Kashmir, and others will be asked to wait until more slots are available.
