Sometimes, the simplest ideas can turn into successful businesses. From tiffin deliveries and homemade pickles to dessert boxes, there are endless ways to start a business. But never in our wildest dreams would we imagine that an itch-relief business could become popular in China. Read to know more!

China’s Unusual Itch-Relief Business Gains Popularity

In China, Zhang Xiaoqiao launched his first “itch-relief shop” in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, in May. That’s not shocking! What’s surprising is that just 40 days later, he was all set to open a second location. People visit these stores to get any part of their body scratched. The service uses special tools that look like fingernails to gently scratch itchy areas and help customers relax.

According to WION, a 60-minute upper-body scratch costs around ₹2,812 (200 yuan), while a 30-minute head-and-back session costs about ₹1,400 (100 yuan). But the real crowd favourite is the 80-minute full-body session, priced between ₹4,064-₹4,205 (289 and 299 yuan). Over 70% of customers prefer the full-body package.

This Service Has Customers Falling Asleep

The owner of this business said that the service is not just about itching the body but also about making customers feel relaxed. The service seems to be quite relaxing, with six or seven out of 10 customers falling asleep during their sessions. Office workers are the biggest group, with urban men making up around 60% to 70% of Zhang’s customers.

Before starting the business, Zhang researched five major itch zones and over 30 specific areas. He spent four months testing the service on acquaintances and fans, perfecting the pressure, speed and sequence. After opening two outlets, the business now earns around ₹22,49,878 (160,000 yuan) every month.
