Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bengaluru is celebrating Independence Day with the 220th Flower Show, depicting the glory of the Ganga Empire. The organisers have used thousands of colourful flowers, along with extensive preparations for the 12-day celebrations. Here’s why you should definitely visit!
220th Lalbagh Flower Show In Bengaluru Celebrates The Ganga Empire
Running from August 6 to August 17, 2026, this year’s Independence Day Lalbagh Flower Show in Bengaluru should not be missed at any cost. This year’s theme honours the ancient Western Ganga dynasty and features a beautiful floral model of the 1,200-year-old Panchalingeshwara Temple Complex of Begur inside the Glass House at the park. According to The New Indian Express, the department has used a riot of colours for the flower show.
The Horticulture Department has made extensive preparations for the 12 days. People visiting Lalbagh Botanical Garden will be able to witness the powerful Gajasena of the Ganga kings, a battle scene, the Bahubali statue of Shravanabelagola, and replicas of the Talakad temples. Everything has been created using flowers.

Statues Of Ganga Kings On Display
According to The New Indian Express, six lakh flowers will be used for the Begur Temple replica from the Ganga period. It measures 50 feet in height and 24 feet in width. Around 2.15 lakh chrysanthemums in white, yellow, pink, and rust colours, along with 90,000 red and orange roses, will be used for the first six days. The same number of flowers (3.5 lakh) will be replaced for the last six days. Reportedly, artistic displays of the Bengaluru Inscription and the Elephant Battle have also been mounted inside the Glass House. People will also get to see the Brahma Stambha replica inside.
The innovative artworks at the Lalbagh Flower Show also give visitors an opportunity to learn about the Ganga Empire. They showcase its contribution to Kannada literature, education, and more. Statues of Ganga kings Kongunivarma, Madhava, Avinitha, and Mahadandanayaka Chavundaraya will also be on display.
