According to a news report by the Khaleej Times, it was mentioned that Air India and Air India Express are aligning their networks. This means that the routes for both these carriers are likely to be changed. As it happens, Air India flights to Indore, Goa, and Kozhikode have already been cancelled and have been replaced by Air India Express flights. As a result, those who have been planning to travel to some sectors of the country can expect an increased fare. In case you’re wondering, a sector is referred to as a flight between two points. Coming back to the hike in price, a bunch of travel agencies have also confirmed that this is causing a lot of inconvenience to passengers.

A major reason for the disappointment in passengers could be the fact that Air India uses a larger carrier, which is much more spacious. However, the Air India Express deploys a much smaller aircraft, which does not allow a lot of mobility, holds lesser cargo, and cannot carry structural cases like wheelchairs. The reason for this is the fact that it is a low-cost carrier. It is worth noting that Air India also downgraded their flights to Kochi to a smaller A321 aircraft. It is worth noting, that the approximate rise in the fare could be as high as 50%, however, a clearer picture about the same may come out in the following days. This has happened as the larger Dreamliner carrier has been redirected to Mumbai and Delhi. This means anyone who is flying to Kochi and wishes to travel by business class may have to fly with Emirates.
