1. 5 Records Broken By RAK & Abu Dhabi During The NY Fireworks

Ras Al Khaimah set two records with their eight-minute-long fireworks and drone display as they celebrated the New Year. The pyrotechnics, which lit up the sky on the Al Marjan Island waterfront stretch, broke the record for the longest chain of aquatic floating fireworks and longest straight-line drone display.

However, Abu Dhabi also broke four records in terms of duration, quantity, and design intricacy with the 40-minute firework display at the Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba. According to a report by the National News, it was mentioned that records were set for the tallest pyrotechnics structure, the most repeated firework image formations in one minute, and the most candles on a fan structure. The broken record also included that of the largest area logo formed by drones.

2. Over 2.2 M People Used Public Transport On NYE

It’s no secret that major landmarks in Dubai were going to display splendid fireworks as the nation welcomed the new year. To watch the same, over 2.2 million riders used public transport on New Year’s Eve. Confirmed by the Dubai RTA, it was revealed that a large number of passengers travelled to and from the New Year’s celebration venues through a well-coordinated plan of course. Yes, this included the metro, tram, marine, taxi, and even buses, to name some modes of public transport in Dubai.

3. Etihad Airways Begins Daily Flights To Kozhikode & Thiruvananthapuram

As the New Year’s began on Monday, January 1, Etihad Airways began to new flights from Abu Dhabi. These flights included non-stop services to Kodi Kodi and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, India. At this point, it should be noted that these are daily flights and with the commencement of the service, the total number of Indian gateways served by the airline is now at 10.

4. Iconic Landmarks Light Up With Fireworks On NYE In Dubai

Iconic Dubai landmarks like the Dubai Frame, the Burj Khalifa, Atlantis The Royal, and even Burj Al Arab lit up with some fantastic fireworks. The brilliant fireworks display left people in awe of the grand celebrations that took place around the emirate.
