If you thought banknotes were just pieces of paper (or polymer, in this case), think again. The revamped AED 100 bill is a tribute to the UAE’s rich heritage and ambitious future. On one side, it proudly showcases Umm Al Quwain National Fort, a historic fortress that stands as a reminder of the country’s deep-rooted past. Flip it over, and you’ll see the Port of Fujairah, a major trading hub, alongside an image of the highly anticipated Etihad Rail, which promises to revolutionise passenger and freight transport across the nation.
This updated design replaces the 1982 version, which featured Dubai’s iconic Al Fahidi Fort and the World Trade Centre. While the colour scheme remains the same—its signature pinkish-red hue—the imagery now tells a broader story of national progress and unity.

Say goodbye to easily counterfeited banknotes! The new AED 100 bill is armed with top-notch security enhancements, including a multi-coloured security chip known as KINEGRAM COLORS. This advanced feature makes counterfeiting nearly impossible while boosting confidence in cash transactions. With modern printing techniques and intricate inscriptions, this banknote is designed to stay ahead of fraudsters.
A Sustainable & Accessible Upgrade
Out with the old, in with the eco-friendly! The switch from paper to polymer means this banknote is now more sustainable, lasting at least twice as long as its predecessor. Not only does this help reduce waste, but it also ensures that the notes remain in better condition over time.
Additionally, the new AED 100 bill includes prominent Braille markings, making it easier for visually impaired individuals to identify its value. This step towards inclusivity ensures that the banknote is accessible to all members of society.

Great news is that you don’t have to wait! The new banknote is already circulating, and it is just in time for the Eid Al Fitr celebrations. CBUAE has instructed all banks and exchange houses to update their systems, ensuring seamless acceptance of the new polymer notes and the existing paper ones. So, whether you’re withdrawing cash from an ATM or making a purchase, expect to see this modern banknote in your wallet soon..
