Umrah Pilgrims From KAIA To The Grand Mosque Can Avail Of Free Public Transportation Service

Saudi has been creating several amenities for Umrah pilgrims for a smooth travel experience to the holy place. Post the restriction on Umrah trips during Ramadan, crowd control has been an advantage for the Saudi government. So providing more facilities is the new aim of the government for the visitors. To ease the travel for Umrah Pilgrims, The General Syndicate of Cars (GSC) has announced free public transportation service. Let’s understand more about this service.

Free Public Transportation For Umrah Pilgrims

The Grand mosque is accessible through public transit from Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA). Umrah pilgrims would be transported at no cost by the service.

A boarding card is required for the bus that will take pilgrims to Kudai parking lots and subsequently to Makkah’s Grand Mosque. The trips begin every day at 10:00 a.m. and depart hourly till 10:00 p.m. Additionally, 12 buses leave Makkah every day between 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

The number of trips between these two major destinations will witness a significant rise. At present, as informed by The general director of GSC Osama Samkari, the frequency of trips has reached 13.

This initiative will result in a reduction of crowd density in the areas apart from facilitating the Umrah Pilgrims with a comfortable trip. The number of journeys over the final 10 days of Ramadan will increase, according to the director general. The hour of Tahajjud prayer would also be changed, in addition to the departure time for bus excursions, to keep up with the sharp spike in the frequency of flights landing at the airport.
