If you’re someone who frequently travels by train in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, we have some great news for you. The Indian Railways is now extending the services of the second Vande Bharat train. The services of train numbers 22548 and 22550 will now be extended to Prayagraj, also known as Allahabad. Here are all the details that you need to know about this particular extension of train service.

The Lucknow-Gorakhpur Juction-Lucknow Vande Bharat train will now be extended to Prayagraj Junction. The train that is numbered 22548 and 22550 will now be called Prayagraj-Gorakhpur Junction-Prayagraj Vande Bharat Express. According to an article recently published by The Financial Express, the Railway Board has given the approval for its extension.

After its extension, the total distance covered by the train will be 355 kilometres. The train will ply this distance in a total of seven hours and 25 minutes. This means that it will be the fastest train on this route. The other two trains which are LTT-GKP Superfast Express and the Chaurichaura Express travel the same distance in seven hours 30 minutes and nine hours five minutes each.

The train has a total of eight coaches which will be divided into two categories, AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car. It will ply on all days except Saturday. The total capacity of the train is 530 passengers. This train will be operated by the North Eastern Railway or the NER and is the first new-age train in this particular zone.

It was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, this year on July 7. It is the 25th new age train in the country and is one of its fastest. As of now, this semi-high-speed train plies between the Gorakhpur Junction and Lucknow. Once the extension is complete, it will make the lives of passengers significantly easier because of improved connectivity.

It will also boost tourism as iconic places like the Gorakhpur Math and Ramgarh Taal as well as Veer Bahadur Singh Planetarium will be made more accessible than before. The local economy will also be positively impacted as it will provide an impetus to trade and commerce in the region.

The Vande Bharat trains have revolutionised train travel in the country as it provides a fast, comfortable and relatively pocket-friendly travel option for people who want to travel between states by train.
