Uttarakhand is witnessing a flurry of infrastructure projects including road connectivity to Char Dhams, ropeway near Hemkund Sahib and more to boost tourism and employment opportunities in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed that the next decade belongs to Uttarakhand. He further addressed the gathering at Kedarnath that the state will receive more tourists in just 10 years than it did in the past 100 years. Also, as confirmed by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, superstar Akshay Kumar has become the brand ambassador of the hilly state.

Uttarakhand Will Launch Slovenia-Like Adventure Cave Tourism Circuit To Thousand Year Old Caves

Slovenia, a country in Central Europe that’s smaller than even Vermont, boasts of 8000 magical and some of the oldest caves in the world. Škocjan Cave is a UNESCO World Heritage Site while Postojna Cave is the second-longest cave in Slovenia. The country thrives on adventurous cave tourism. Tourists can go on underground trains and boat tours to explore the history and the mystery behind the spell-binding caves. Well, you don’t need to go all the way to Slovenia for cave tourism. Uttarakhand will soon launch Slovenia like cave tourism circuit for adventure junkies.

 Adventure Lovers Can Soon Visit Uttarakhand For Cave Tourism

Archaeologists discovered an intricate cave system in Gangolihat and Pithoragarh, as recently as this September. The thousand-year caves were surveyed by scientists from the Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USAC). These caves in Uttarakhand are a set of nine underground caves that have the potential to be one of the most attractive tourist spots in the state. According to Times Of India, these caves are situated in Mukteshwar, Vrihad Tung, Daneswar, Sailiswar and Gupta Ganga.

Slovenia Earn 30 Percent From Caves; Uttarakhand To Follow Suit

MPS Bisht, USAC Director revealed to TOI that the multi-layered caves are 50m tall. The natural sites will be protected and eventually, tourists will be permitted to visit them. Cave tourism has been an attraction for adventure junkies, especially trekkers. From night trekking to spot caves to monsoon hiking to take shelter in the cold caves, it’s an exciting activity. While Slovenia earns 30 per cent revenue through cave tourism, Uttarakhand also looks forward to generating income in this manner.
