So, if you’re asked to fork out extra cash for an appointment, you’re dealing with a scammer.

A VFS Global spokesperson emphasised that the only fee required is the visa processing fee, and any legitimate application can be made directly through their platform. Their advice? They recommend applying well in advance, especially during peak summer months when the rush for appointments is fiercer than a crowd at a summer sale.
Recent data paints a grim picture for many hopeful travellers. A survey of 419 respondents found that a staggering 65% had trouble securing a Schengen visa appointment for this summer. This challenge is particularly pressing for foreign residents in the UAE, such as those from Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, who need visas to visit the Schengen Area.
In 2023, the UAE saw a flurry of visa applications—233,932 in total. Of these, 175,605 were approved, but 52,485 faced rejection. The top destinations for visa applicants were Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands, with these countries receiving the lion’s share of applications from UAE-based foreign residents.
