A nutritious omelette infused with vegetables and topped with cheese can make a comforting breakfast. Omelette is easy to make and is highly delicious. We’ve come across different kinds of omelettes like single egg omelettes, double egg omelettes, chicken omelettes, mutton omelettes and even Mediterranean-style omelettes. Recently, mug omelettes, prepared and served inside mugs are also gaining popularity. But have you heard about coconut omelette made with coconut water? It is a rare South Indian snack and is touted to be flavourful.

Try This Coconut Omelette From The Old Lanes Of Delhi

Recently, a video of the coconut water omelette from Delhi was uploaded on the Instagram page ‘liveforfood007’ and it is breaking the internet. The video has grabbed over 14.4K likes. In the video, a food vendor is seen making the omelette with coconut water, onion, chilli, garlic, salt, spices, tomato and dhania. Sita Ram Sikandar Omelette in Delhi’s Chawri Bazar serves this unique omelette. The food vendor says in the video that he received requests from his customers from Kerala and other parts of South India to make the coconut water omelette. He serves the snack with two slices of bread and a glass of refreshing coconut water. The omelette is also topped with chilli flakes before serving.

Omelette Cooked Inside Coconut Husk

Although the internet spewed mixed reactions towards the video, the food blogger trying the dish said that it tastes similar to the regular omelette. If you’re surprised by the dish, allow us to tell you about an omelette from South India which is actually prepared inside a coconut husk. To make this omelette, chopped vegetables and spices are mixed with raw eggs. Then the mixture is transferred to a coconut husk. The husk is sealed and subjected to fire. Once the omelette is cooked, it is taken out of the husk and relished.
