It was recently revealed that Art Biennale is coming back to Saudi Arabia in 2024 and 2025. Yes, as it happens, the city of Riyadh will welcome this newest edition of the art event called Diryah Contemporary Art Biennale in 2024, whereas the next edition will be making its way to Jeddah for the Islamic Arts Biennale in 2025. Talking about both of the aforementioned events, they are part of the Diryah Biennale Foundation, which was established in 2020 by the Ministry of Culture. In case you aren’t aware, a catalyst for dialogue development between the growing and diverse art communities in Saudi Arabia, this organisation plays an important role in driving cultural exchange between local and international communities.

At this point, it should be mentioned that the official dates for both of these Saudi Biennales are yet to be reviewed. However, it is worth mentioning that the Diryah Contemporary Art Biennale happened to be the first ever contemporary art biennale to be introduced in Saudi Arabia. Yes, its first edition happened from December 2021 to March 2022 at the JAX districts. Not to mention, the event showcased renowned works by both regional and international artists.
Finally, it’s worth noting that the Islamic Arts Biennale recently happened in January 2023 in Jeddah. Not to mention, the exhibition pays tribute to the Islamic culture of both past and contemporary times.
