Durga Puja is around the corner and keeping the same in mind Mamata Banerjee’s government brings in happy news for West Bengal. On Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced government holidays for the upcoming Durga Puja from 30th September to 10th October. The CM also stated that her government will increase the grant to Durga Puja organizing committees in West Bengal from Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Declared Durga Puja Allowances of ₹60K To Nearly 43K Durga Puja Committees
On Monday, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee attended a meeting with Durga Puja organizing committee members at the city’s Netaji Indoor Stadium. Soon after that, the CM announced that her government will increase the grant to Durga Puja organizing committees in West Bengal from ₹50,000 to ₹60,000 this year. The Durga puja Allowances will be provided to nearly 43k committees which makes for a total allowance budget of ₹258 crores. Looks like West Bengal is going to have massive Durga Puja celebrations this year after the two-year pandemic break.
“Last year, the Durga Puja committees received financial assistance of Rs 50,000. This year the committees will get Rs 60,000,” said CM Mamata Banerjee. Mamata Banerjee further added that there will also be a 60 percent discount on power tariffs for Durga Puja organizers. The CM then declared government holidays for Durga Puja from September 30 to October 10 in West Bengal.

A Mega Rally To Be Organised In Kolkata On September 1
As per West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Kolkata will thank UNESCO for the inclusion of Kolkata’s Durga Puja on the list of ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity’ by organizing a mega rally on September 1. The rally will start at 2 pm from Jorasanko Thakurbari and will end at Rani Rashmoni Avenue in Kolkata. “This year’s Puja is going to be special as a lot of people from abroad are going to visit,” added Banerjee. Well, it will be interesting to see how the Durga Puja 2022 celebrations unfold in West Bengal!
