Thailand Introduces New Alcohol Rules
Thailand has updated their alcohol rules. The country has launched eight new rules. These rules are related to the sale and consumption of alcohol in public places, transport areas, and government-controlled spaces. As per The Economic Times, the new rules came into effect after the government officially published them in the Royal Gazette.
What are the new rules? Under the revised rules, people can no longer sell or consume alcohol on roads, inside vehicles, or in vehicles parked on roads. People can no longer sell or drink alcohol at public piers, ferry terminals, and passenger transport stations anywhere in Thailand.
Thailand has also banned alcohol sales at train stations and on trains. However, authorities made one exception. Special events held inside the air-conditioned halls of Bangkok Station may still allow alcohol under approved conditions. The new rules also apply to factories. People cannot sell or drink alcohol inside factories anymore. The only exception is for liquor factories where tasting alcohol is part of the production process.

Alcohol Restrictions Expanded To Government Spaces
Thailand has also banned alcohol sales and drinking in places controlled by government agencies and state-owned organisations. The Economic Times reported that private homes, clubs, and traditional banquet events in these areas can still serve alcohol if they already have permission. The restrictions now also cover public parks managed by the government or state organisations. Visitors cannot buy or drink alcohol in these parks.
These new changes in alcohol affect both residents and international visitors. To those planning to visit Thailand should stay aware of the updated rules, especially while using public transport, visiting parks, or attending events in government-managed spaces.
