What’s Cooking At The 2024 Met Gala? Explore The Enchanting, Sleeping Beauty-Inspired Menu!

Ah, the Met Gala, a night of opulence, elegance, and of course, fashion-forward feasts. It’s where the crème de la crème of the fashion world gather to strut their stuff on the red carpet, all in the name of art and style. But what’s a glamorous evening without a culinary spectacle to match? Every year, the menu at the Met Gala is as meticulously curated as the guest list itself, weaving seamlessly into the theme of the evening. This year, the Met Gala 2024 theme takes us deep into the realm of fairytales with “Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion.”

A Look At The Fairytale-Inspired Menu Of The Met Gala

Caterer Olivier Cheng took inspiration from the enchanting world of Sleeping Beauty to craft a menu that was both whimsical and elegant, using the finest seasonal ingredients to weave a culinary fairytale.

According to the Vogue, the attendants’ journey through this gastronomic fantasy will begin with a spring vegetable salad adorned with elderflower foam, raspberry vinaigrette, and olive crumble, reminiscent of Aurora’s reawakening after a century-long slumber.

The main course will be a fillet of b**f topped with a tortellini rose for the guests to enjoy. It is intended to symbolise a culinary castle floating on a pine needle and mushroom “moat.” This dish honours Philip Treacy’s famous rose hat while reflecting the floral motifs in the gala’s exhibit and Sleeping Beauty’s royal surroundings.

And for dessert? Vogue revealed, a not-so-poison apple will be a playful homage to Snow White. It will be crafted from almond cremeux and coated in a vibrant red mirror glaze. It will rest delicately on a walnut-flavoured “leaf.” It’s a sweet finale to a fairytale feast fit for a princess.

But amidst all the enchantment, as per the TODAY reports, there’s one rule: no onions, garlic, or chives allowed. Vogue’s Anna Wintour has spoken, banishing these pungent plants from the gala’s catering. After all, even fairytales have their limits.

So there you have it, the Met Gala 2024 menu. It is a culinary masterpiece woven into the fabric of fantasy.
