When Judges Said ‘We Can’t Eat This’ And Refused Usha Nadkarni’s Dish On Celebrity MasterChef

Celebrity MasterChef entertained viewers with their over-the-top food challenges and celebrity guests. One of the standout moments throughout season 2025 was with veteran actor Usha Nadkarni. During one of the episodes, judges Vikas Khanna, Ranveer Brar, and Farah Khan refused to taste her dish because it was undercooked.

Usha Nadkarni presented her fried chicken dish to the judges during the programme. However, in the tasting process, Chef Ranveer Brar found that the chicken was uncooked. The fear of food poisoning led him to say, ‘Pura kachha hain, hum khayenge toh bimar ho jayenge,’ which indicated the medical risks associated with eating raw meat.

Farah Khan also wouldn’t taste the food, reinforcing the importance of attentiveness in cooking. She indicated that one must be meticulous with professional suggestions so that minute errors do not hamper the quality and safety of food.

Usha admitted that she had tested the chicken by stabbing it with a knife, but Farah explained that visual checks are not always reliable.

The moment quickly went viral on social media. The audience was largely in tune with the judges, saying that food safety always has to be the priority. Others sympathised with Usha, understanding the pressure contestants are put through when faced with cooking challenges.

The social media user prompted conflicting reactions. Some of the viewers applauded the judges for maintaining high food standards, while others opined that their approach could have been more positive.

Others also noted the manner in which reality cooking competitions test not only culinary abilities but also the candidates’ ability to endure criticism and learn from their mistakes.

This experience is a good reminder about food safety at home and also in commercial kitchens. Cooking under pressure is challenging, but paying heed to instructions and techniques is what matters.

Usha Nadkarni’s experience highlighted the learning opportunities these competitions provide.

Perhaps, maybe, the real essence of cooking isn’t about creating the perfect dish but learning to embrace failure and come back stronger.
