Unfortunately, Indians experienced quite a hard time while getting a Schengen visa in 2022. Indians faced one of the world’s most rejection rates in the last year, according to Schengen visa statistics. This Country Had The Highest Schengen Visa Rejection Rate Last Year

Schengen visa rejection rates in Algeria were the highest in the world back in 2022. According to a report by LiveMint, a whopping number of 179,409 visa applications from this country were denied. With a huge percentage of 45.8, this country in North Africa had the most shocking rejections rates.

India Is Right After Algeria

In the second rank among the top countries with the highest rejection rates, we have India. Reports state that there were 121,188 visa rejections in this country in 2022. According to a report by schengenvisainfo, India witnessed a visa rejection rate of 18 per cent. Indians have applied for more than 6 lakh applications in the last year, according to a report by Business Today. In fact, this is the third-most number of Schengen visa applications applied from a country. In comparison to Algeria, the difference in the percentage of rejection rates is quite distinct, but the overall number of visa denial takes India to the second position on this list.

Following India, Turkey had the third-highest rejection percentage of 15.2. A total of 120,876 visa applications faced rejections last year.

Morocco faced the fourth-most visa denial last year. This country witnessed a rejection of 119,346 applications with 15.5 per cent. Following Morocco, Russia took the spot with 68,753 rejections. Russia faced the denial with a rejection rate of 28.2 per cent. With a rejection percentage of 29.1, Tunisia saw 48,909 application denial.
