Boosting Tourism In Kolkata
Recently, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, inaugurated the Ganga Aarti at Baje Kadamtala Ghat in Kolkata. It is inspired by the one in Varanasi.
Every morning and evening, a temporary platform at the Hooghly river ghats will be taken down and built up again for the Aarti ceremony. Priests sang mantras in front of the statue of Ganga Devi during the ceremony, and the Chief Minister played a conch shell.
The West Bengal Government planned to organise Ganga Aarti on the ghats of the city for visitors and tourists to witness, just like in Varanasi, in order to boost tourism in Kolkata.
