World’s Tallest Statue Of Unity Witnesses Over 50 Lakh Visitors Since 2018

Kenned as the tallest statue in the world, the Statue of Unity at Gujarat’s Kevadia has received more than fifty lakh visitors since its inauguration in October 2018. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the 182-metre tall statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, 2018. Since then, the grand statue has received a large number of visitors from all across India and the world.  On March 15, 2021, IAS Dr Rajiv Kumar Gupta shared the news on Twitter, stating, “#StatueofUnity crosses five million visitors mark !!! Built under the visionary leadership of Hon. @PMOIndia it has emerged as an international tourist destination, offering multiple attractions for all age groups.”

The Statue Reopened For Tourists On October 17, 2020, After Lockdown

Gujarat reopened the Statue of Unity in the Narmada district on October 17, 2020, after lockdown. The state is taking complete measures against coronavirus. The tallest statue in the world is dedicated to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The statue overlooks the Narmada River. In January 2020, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation also declared the Statue of Unity as the Eighth Wonder of the World. Earlier, the Statue of Unity made headlines for drawing more tourists than the Statue of Liberty in the US. The latest report reveals that it has received more than five million visitors since its inauguration in 2018.

PM Had Flagged Off Eight Trains Connecting The Statue To The Rest Of India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off eight trains connecting the Statue of Unity to different parts of the country.  The Gujarat government also planned to promote the Statue of Unity and the Tent City as a destination wedding spot. Besides these, Gujarat had launched a seaplane service to provide connectivity from Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Riverfront to the Statue of Unity to boost tourism.
