“Worst Flight I’ve Ever Been On,” Australian Author Slams Air India; Is It Really That Bad?

A Mumbai-based Australian writer and author described her experience on the recently introduced direct Air India flight from Mumbai to Melbourne, Australia. According to Sharell Cook, it was the “worst flight,” and numerous individuals had forewarned her of this.

Australian Author Slams Air India Flight

In her post, she stated that she foolishly decided to take the new Air India direct flight from Mumbai to Melbourne, despite warnings and concerns. She obviously thought how bad it could be. However, according to her, it was the worst flight she had ever been on.

She reported that there was a two-hour wait at the check-in desk. Moreover, there were no updates for an hour while the passengers were stranded on the runway. In another post, she shared the details of her journey and stated that she had to endure 2 hours of chaos while standing in the check-in line. An hour was spent waiting on the tarmac with no word on when the flight would take off. Refreshments are offered after departure; alcohol is not served. As for wine, she had to ask for it and there was only red wine available.

She also pointed out that alcohol and snacks were served between breakfast and lunch. She went on and asked who wanted to drink alcohol then. Only those who placed an advance order were provided non-vegetarian meals.

Inefficient & Disorganised Service

After listing a bunch of negative points about the flight, she accepted that it had plenty of legroom and was comfortable, despite being an older aircraft without in-flight entertainment.

In her following post, she mentioned that they arrived 30 mins late in Melbourne and then she spent another 20 mins while the staff sprayed it for insects. Further, the staff did not hand out any arrival cards for immigration. Reviewing their service, she stated that it was inefficient and disorganised; passengers had to repeat their requests.

She also stated that her co-passenger, an uncle, threw rubbish on the floor instead of a garbage can! To top it all off, there were 3 defective toilets to add to the list.

After reading her experience, Netizens have shared their opinions on the topic. One of them wrote that the airline is not supposed to be blamed for this.

Another user commented that a dinosaur from the 1950s, Air India has parachuted into 2023. It will take an additional ten years to abandon its customs.
