X User Slams Woman For Eating Rice With Hands In Airport; Who’s Gonna Tell There’s A 1000-YO Ayurvedic Science Behind It?

For Indians and Southeast Asians, eating with hands is a common and even an integral part of our cultures. However, recently, a woman of possibly South Asian descent was shamed by an X user JusB (@jusbdonthate) for eating with her hands. What followed was a barrage of comments, many of which schooled the X user about the concept of eating with one’s hands. Most importantly, who’s going to educate this X user that there’s a 1000-year-old science behind eating with hands?

X User Shames Woman For Eating Fried Rice With Her Hands

X user, JusB (@jusbdonthate), shared a video of a woman eating fried rice with her hand in an airport. While the woman’s face is kept hidden for safety reasons, it appears that she is of South Asian descent. Ironic to the X user’s name,  @jusbdonthate questioned in the caption, why the lady seated nearby is eating with her “damn hands” in a “nasty airport”.

Furthermore, the X user goes on to sarcastically thank “such people” for leaving their saliva at airports and public spaces. JusB goes on to add that people should eat with their hands at home and use cutlery in public places.

But Netizens took to the comments section to raise the hypocrisy. @YORUMlTAKA points out that if an American ate French Fries, the X user wouldn’t bat an eyelid. @bigzaddyej23 pointed out the creepy behaviour of recording someone a person eating. @Torimodose_ lists down the dishes that the West commonly consume with their hands like burgers, pizzas, fries and more. The X user adds that this post just reeks of cultural bias.

Meanwhile, the 1000-year-old Ayurveda science lists that eating with your hands is not just hygienic but also aids digestion. It helps engage all your senses and stay mindful during the act of eating. It increases one’s connection with food. Also, hands contain healthy bacteria which help protect the body. So by consuming food with hands, these microbes enter the body and increase one’s immunity.
