Founder Of Ramoji Film City and media baron, Cherukuri Ramoji Rao passed away at the age of 87 on June 8. The Padma Vibhushan awardee passed away from chronic illness and age-related health issues in the early hours of Saturday. He was admitted to Star Hospital, Hyderabad on June 5 as he was, reportedly, experiencing high blood pressure and breathlessness. His demise has left the country and the film fraternity shaken.

Ramoji Rao, the man behind the massive Ramoji Film City, passed away this morning. He was 87 and had been suffering from chronic illness and age-related health issues for a while now. His family confirmed the news and mentioned that he passed away at 4:50 AM on Saturday morning at Star Hospitals, Hyderabad.

Born on November 16, 1936, Ramoji Rao was a huge name in the film and media industry, he founded a huge business empire and headed ETV Network of television channels. He was also the chairman of the Margadarshi Group of Companies and film production company, Usha Kiran Movies. He is best known for making the world’s largest film production facility – Ramoji Film City where the blockbuster movie Bahubali was filmed.

Actor Ram Charan paid a silent tribute to Ramoji Rao with his crew members as he was shooting when the news broke out.
