It’s no surprise that the United Arab Emirates has been one of the most popular tourist destinations in the World. In fact, the Emirati culture and expanding infrastructure have attracted people from different countries to visit and witness the marvel. A recent report by CBRE revealed that the UAE hospitality sector has witnessed growth in the first quarter compared to the pre-pandemic era with increase in flights and hotel occupancy.

The CBRE Group is the leading commercial real estate services and investment business globally. In fact, it has been providing services to customers throughout the Middle East for almost two decades. Additionally, the company releases reports related to hospitality and real estate sector. One such report was published by them showing a drastic increase in the hospitality sector.

The report reviews the hospitality market in the first quarter of 2024. According to this, UAE’s ADRs (Average Daily Rates) as of March 2024 were 24.9%. Higher ADRs in Sharjah (27.9%), Dubai (24.0%), Abu Dhabi (18.0%), Fujairah (11.1%), and Ras Al Khaimah (1.9%) have supported this rise. Consequently, the RevPARs (Revenue Per Available Room) of these cities have increased by 34.3%, 22.3%, 19.7%, 40.6%, and 3.0%, respectively, above their pre-pandemic levels in 2019.

Dubai Hotels Welcome 5.18 Million Guests

The data till March 2024 show how strong visitor traffic has remained in the UAE. Abu Dhabi had an astounding rise in hotel occupancy, with 1.30 million guests overall—a 22.0% increase over the previous year. Likewise, Dubai had a strong expansion, hosting 5.18 million foreign tourists in total during that time frame, up 9.1% from 2019 and 10.9% year over year.

The average occupancy rate in the United Arab Emirates saw a slight increase of 0.9 percentage points year over year as of March 2024. The nation’s average revenue per available room (RevPAR) rose 6.8% during that time due to a 5.6% increase in the ADR. Globally, the average number of flights in the first quarter of 2024 was 118,689, which was 11.5% more than the pre-pandemic baseline from 2019 and represented an 11.0% rise year over year.
