Here, you can savour some of the yummiest and most impressive sherbets. Sherbet is a diluted and flavourful fruit juice. It is a favourable spot for all the college students and Kolkata inhabitants with juices like daab (coconut), grapes and more. Paramount Sherbet In College Street Is Worth All The Hype!

Paramount Sherbet was started by Nihar Ranjan Majumder in 1918. It is still standing tall, thanks to its unique techniques which even attracted eminent Bengali personalities. Some of the names are Saurav Ganguly, Satyajit Ray, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy and many more! 

Just as you enter this restaurant, you are transported to the old-era vibes with stone-top tables, wooden benches and chairs. Right on top of the cashier, a nameplate with its name and year of establishment is hanging. And the portion below it is filled with newspaper clippings, showcasing its journey through the years. On other walls, there are white and black portraits of famous Bengali personalities who visited this popular place in Kolkata.

One of the most prominent things that sets Paramount Sherbet different from other sherbet restaurants is their well-kept family secret syrup recipe. They still prepare the syrup for sherbets at the shop in Kolkata. With summer here, the shop is going to be filled with customers waiting in longer queues to sip on some appetising goodness as liquid refreshments.

Let’s Talk About Sherbets On Its Menu

The menu changes through the seasons and aligns with seasonal items like Kesar Malai sherbet is available during winter. The most hyped up sherbet at Paramount Sherbet is Daab Sherbet and you have to try it. We assure you, it is worth all the hype! It is a cold drink prepared with fresh coconut water, syrup, and malai (tender flesh) of the coconut. 

Another one is Green Mango Sherbet with an unusual fluorescent green colour for a fruit sherbet. This one is more like a thick lassi-cum-drink made with yoghurt, sugar, salt and more ingredients. Other drinks on the menu are Cocoa Malai, Grapes Crush, Pineapple Malai and more delicious drinks waiting for you!
