32 Year Old Indian Man Completes Mt. Kilimanjaro On Crutches

If you really, truly desire something in life, the universe finds its way to give it to you. A beautiful example of this can be seen through an amazing feat where an Indian man completed Mt. Kilimanjaro on crutches. Yes, on crutches. Where people like us who are blessed with physical fitness, find it an impossible task to climb imposing mountains, 32-year-old, Neeraj George Baby from Ernakulam in Kerala completed the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa around 5,895m above sea level, on crutches.

What’s More?

Climbing the Mt. Kilimanjaro has been Neeraj’s five-year-old dream. And he achieved this very dream with a lot of pain for a reason. It was one of the most memorable moments of his life. Neeraj wanted to prove that even a differently-abled person in spite of not having prosthetic limbs can achieve big things in life. He subtly took a dig at the government for charging tax and GST for prosthetic limbs on his Facebook post.

Neeraj’s parents were extremely worried about his well being when he went on the trek. He had lost his limb when he was 9 years old to a tumour. Shila Pappoo, Neeraj’s mother remembered the time when her son’s leg was amputated in 1996. She was extremely worried and upset about her son’s well being and future. But the physiotherapist had assured her that Neeraj was a golden boy who will surely achieve greatness. And now at the age of 32, he has done the unthinkable and has become an inspiration for not all differently-abled people around the world, and but each and every one of us.

It was a tough feat for Neeraj as he had to balance the entire weight of his body on his 2 hands. He was on a strict diet and exercise regime for months. In fact, his own sister admitted that she didn’t take his wish seriously when he first announced to the family that he wanted to conquer Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa. But now he has made his family, the differently-abled community and the entire nation proud with his amazing feat.
