Situated in Thane district of Maharashtra state, Ambernath is a small town that is home to many industries and ancient temples. It is around 50kms from Mumbai and falls on the outskirts of the city. If you are looking for a weekend getaway this is your place to be. The east part of Ambernath has many places where you can visit and it is also the developed part of town. It is positioned towards the end of the Central Railways.

1. Visit The Grand & Historic Shiv Mandir

Shiv Mandir is one of the oldest temples in Ambernath. It was build back in 1060 AD. The massive architecture, age old history, intricate carvings and the beautiful steps that lead you to the Shivling are some of the things that make it the most famous place in town. It is 2KMs from Ambernath station and every year during Mahashivratri there is a grand fair which is called ‘The Shiv Mandir Jatra’. It is not your regular fair, around the time of Shivratri the streets are blocked, the local transport is shut. All this is because a huge number of people from the farthest corners of Mumbai and outside come down to get blessings from Lord Shiva.

Very recently ‘The Shiv Mandir Art Festival’ organized by the local politicians is a three day extravaganza which is an awareness of the age old temple and is also a flashback to our mythological stories with a dash of art and culture. It also witnesses Bollywood celebrities and singers that add the glamour element to the festival.

2. Spend The Morning At The Chikhloli Dam & Waterfall

Well, you know how to spend your summer now. Chikhloli dam is situated between Ambernath and Badlapur and is one of the go to places to beat the heat. It is a lot crowded during the winters and is a getaway destination for the locals. The serene view of mountains, lakes and the fresh breeze which will alleviate your soul will make you feel refreshed. Little waterfalls where you can take a dip and click a lot of pictures with your friends and family.

3. And Then Laze Around Some More At These Water Parks 

Anand Sagar and Shanti Sagar are the two very famous water parks in Ambernath. They are located in the outskirts of the town and are alongside the highway. These two water parks are the go to place for kids as well as adults. The thrilling Octopus ride at Shanti Sagar is a must do thing.  Kids from local schools are taken here for picnics and to munch on their very famous popcorn and candy floss. They have the cheapest entry ticket to a fun filled vacation. The food served inside is great and the park alongside it has swings where you can peacefully sit with the view of the entire water park.

4. Take A Late Afternoon Tour Exploring The Parle G Factory 

Ambernath is one the many places that has a vast stretch of Industries i.e The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). It is attached right alongside the highway and is a little outside to the town. When you enter Ambernath via roadway you can see these factories lined up.  The industrial area falls under one of the prime location which attracts the businessmen and the entrepreneurs. You will also find famous factories like Parle G that will gladly give tour of the factory and will show you the manufacturing and packaging of Parle Biscuits.
