A Massive Cheese Festival Is Coming To Dubai This Weekend

Anything tastes a little better with cheese, isn’t it? And if the case is about bread, then there’s no better partner than cheese. Grilled, baked, fried- no matter the form, cheese is universally loved in all forms. A massive cheese festival is making it’s way to Barasti in Dubai Marina, Le Méridien, Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, on Saturday February 22. Cheese lovers you wouldn’t want to miss this!

What’s It?

Cheese lovers, you know where you must go this weekend! Eat as much cheese as you want as well as feast on delectable cheese-based recipes all through the day. This year, the festival will feature a range of cheeses and dishes served by a line-up of prestigious and acclaimed producers. During the day, producers will be joined by cheese experts, sommeliers and chefs, who will wow even the most knowledgeable cheese lover.

The festival will showcase the talents of experts such as the French award-winning cheesemonger Ludovic Bisot working with CNIEL, the French Dairy board, as well as others cheese specialists brought by USDEC, the US Dairy Export Council and Bord Bia, the Irish food board. They will be creating unique and original recipes through demos and masterclasses throughout the day.

In, fact this will make for a perfect family weekend outing as there’s more than just cheesy dishes. Foodies can enjoy live music performances contests and games, while hopping around the food stalls. As well as there is a kids’ corner featuring a bouncy castle, giant games, arts and crafts. Besides, there is also a specialised kid’s menu, featuring child-friendly cheese dishes.

Meanwhile, the second edition of Dubai Food Festival will happen from 21 February to 9 March and we have the highlights!

1. Etisalat Beach Canteen (26 February – 14 March)

The festival’s flagship event, Etisalat Beach Canteen, will return to Jumeirah Beach behind Sunset Mall, and showcase some of Dubai’s best food concepts. The pop-up event will also feature entertainment and a dedicated family area. The free-to-attend space will be perfect for a family day out. Little ones can also enjoy a wide range of fun activities in a dedicated kid’s zone, while foodies can take part in cooking workshops and attend live cooking sessions at the beachside theatre. There will also be a gaming square and sports court to add to the fun!

2. Dubai Restaurant Week (5 – 14 March)

Dubai Restaurant Week will see 35 of Dubai’s most in-demand restaurants come together for 10 days. The restaurants will offer diners, carefully curated two-course lunch menus and three-course dinner menus. The specially curated menus will feature the restaurants’ most irresistible dishes, catering to more than 18 cuisines city-wide. This year, diners will be able to choose from a selection of restaurants including those by award winning chefs such as Paru by Michelin-star chef Akira Back, COYA, Hell’s Kitchen, Scalini and many more. Lunch prices start from AED 75, and dinner from AED 150.

3. Hidden Gems (26 February – 14 March)

Dubai has a host of hidden food spots waiting to be discovered. DFF’s Hidden Gems allows curious culinary fans the chance to indulge at the top hidden food hot spots in the city. These undiscovered culinary gems will offer incredible authentic tastes and a vibrant atmosphere at pocket-friendly prices. Foodies across Dubai will have the chance to vote and select the 10 best Hidden Gems of Dubai. Voting will open on February 16 and the winners will be announced on March 14.

4. Foodie Experiences (26 February – 14 March)

After the hugely successful launch of Foodie Experiences at last year’s DFF, the concept is back for 2020, and will deliver unique, one-of-a-kind food adventures. Foodie Experiences will feature masterclasses, chef’s tables and experiential dining in unique venues.

Food artisans in the region have mastered the art of crafting some dishes that are not only cheesy but also a delectable treat that cannot be missed. Also, makes a GREAT Instagram post that would have people drooling in minutes.

1. Cheetos Mac n Cheese – Hida Burger

Mac n Cheese is comfort food to many. Imagine it served in a cup with oozing cheese and topped with a generous amount of Cheetos – its a treat you cannot miss. This hole-in-the-wall place is yet to be discovered, the dish is a bestseller amongst other scrumptious dishes. You must also check out their Alfredo Pasta that is also served in a mug.

2. Volcano Fries – Nomad
Fries is a delicacy one cannot resist. Imagine them served to you in a generous topping of gooey cheese, crispy chicken cubes and sauce, sprinkled with Cheetos – its a dish your trainer may frown upon but every bite can take you to heaven and back. One of their other best sellers is the Pink Panther, something you must check out as well.
