Air India Express will soon merge with AirAsia India by the end of 2023. An operational process for the same is under way. The entity will be named Air India Express post-merger as it will have 100% stakes in AirAsia India. This proposed merger of the two low-cost airlines has a lot of benefits not only for the owners but for passengers and airports as well.
AirAsia India Soon To Merge With Air India Express
Air India Express has been operational since 2005, while AirAsia India entered the airline industry in 2014. The merger is said to be a part of the restructuring envisioned by the Tata Group’s airline business. Presently, Air India has fewer domestic operations as compared to international ones.
Air India Express will be expanding its fleet from 24 to 53 in just 12 months with this merger. This will help it add more destinations and explore new routes beyond its traditional market. The airline will be able to expand in its domestic market and also explore new destinations in the overseas market.

There Are Many Expectations Attached To This Proposed Merger
This merger is expected to bring in more customers, revenue, operational benefit, and cost. This expectation comes out of the adoption of the systems, routes, and best practises of each airline. Air India Express has its headquarters in Kochi and this merger is surely going to benefit Kerala’s airport and passengers.
