American Fast-Food Giant Wendy’s To Open 250 Cloud Kitchens In India

If you love tucking into crispy chicken nuggets, gigantic burgers as you sip your chilled coke, then there’s great news for you. American fast-food giant, Wendy’s will open 250 cloud kitchens in India to serve delicious fast food in a safe and hygienic manner. So you can soon order fast food and enjoy it while binging on your favourite show. The American fast-food firm, The Wendy’s Company announced on December 1 that it plans to expand its presence in India with the cloud kitchen specialist, Rebel Foods. So the iconic Wendy’s logo with pigtails will soon make a mark in India. Read on to know more.

Wendy’s To Open 250 Cloud Kitchens & 150 Dine-In Restaurants In India

Wendy’s, master franchisee Sierra Nevada Restaurants will partner with Rebel Foods to develop 250 cloud kitchens all across India. And another 150 brick and mortar stores will also come up in the country. This move to build Wendy’s cloud kitchens in India comes after the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way restaurant industries operate. Over the past few months, Bengaluru witnessed a surge in cloud kitchens, many of them, started by big popular resto-bars.

The increase in cloud kitchens has given rise to takeaways and online food orders.  As diners are currently hesitant to opt for dine-in facilities, the idea of takeaways and home deliveries have made foodies in India, feel comfortable. Wendy’s launched in India in 2015. And it currently runs 9 restaurants including 5 cloud kitchens in Delhi. This fast-food chain globally runs more than 6800 restaurants. Managing Director of Sierra Nevada, Jasper Reid, stated: “India is one of the most under-penetrated markets on earth.”

According to Economic Times, Wendy’s chief development officer Abigail Pringle revealed, “We are delighted to welcome Rebel Foods into the Wendy’s family and to expand our relationship with Sierra Nevada Restaurants.
