Are you planning to visit the Andaman and Nicobar islands? After a drop in COVID-19 cases, The Andaman & Nicobar administration announced that they will reopen all tourist spots in South Andaman districts for tourists with immediate effect. The authorities had earlier announced the reopening of sound and light show at the Cellular jail, museums, and NSCB island for tourists.

Tourists Should Adhere To COVID Protocols

Tourists should, however, abide by COVID-19 protocols and adhere to COVID-appropriate guidelines. The District Magistrate of the South Andaman District announced several relaxations in political, entertainment, sports, religious, and festival-related gatherings and congregations. Moreover, all parks, gyms, and yoga institutes have been allowed to reopen. The rules have been made tighter to keep fresh coronavirus infections at bay while allowing tourists on the island. Here are all the latest travel and quarantine guidelines you need to know.

Negative RT-PCR Test Report Is Mandatory

All passengers flying to Andaman from the Indian mainland must carry a negative RT-PCR test report issued from ICMR-approved labs within 48 hours of departure. Those testing positive will be sent to a free-of-cost institutional quarantine centre. Passengers can also opt to stay at the identified hotels of their choice and pay for it.

Meanwhile, the centre is preparing to develop massive projects in the Andaman and Nicobar islands. According to some reports, the developments might cause irreversible damage to the biodiversity of the region. With emerald waters, white sands, towering palms, and rocky realms, the Andaman is one of the most pristine destinations in India. Through a series of amendments and de-notifications, several projects have been planned on the island. Many species of birds and animals in the region are already endemic.
