Tirupati Laddu Records Highest Monthly Sales In May
In May 2026 alone, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) set an all-time record, with over 1.21 crore Tirupati Laddus sold to devotees. According to The New Indian Express, this marks a substantial year-on-year increase compared to 1.01 crore laddus in May 2024 and 1.10 crore in May 2025. Over the 2025-26 financial year, 13.95 crore Tirupati Laddus were distributed, generating more than ₹567 crore in revenue.
To meet this extraordinarily high demand, TTD prepares between 4.08 lakh and 4.50 lakh laddus daily. These preparations require nearly 68 tonnes of raw material every day, including 32 tonnes of sugar, 16 tonnes of Bengal gram flour, 16 tonnes of pure cow ghee, 3.5 tonnes of cashew nuts, 2 tonnes of raisins, 400 kg of cardamom and 800 kg of sugar candy.

What Makes Tirupati Laddus So Special?
But do you know what makes these Tirupati Laddus so special? Each laddu weighs about 167-170 grams. It is made with precise proportions of ingredients, adhering to the traditional ‘Dittam’ standards approved in 1950-51. These laddus are prepared in the sacred kitchen, Srivari Potu, by around 700 Sri Vaishnava Brahmins. The facilities at this sacred kitchen include a flour mill, a ghee storage unit and a gas plant.
According to The New Indian Express, TTD also maintains a buffer stock of 8-10 lakh laddus during special occasions such as summer vacations, Brahmotsavams, Vaikuntha Dwara Darshanam and Radhasapthami. These laddus symbolise a perfect blend of quality, tradition and devotion at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh.
