Dubai Public Art is a project that has been launched by Dubai Culture. This project sees the commissioning, curation, and activation of public works across the city. And now, for all the UAE-based artists, there is brilliant news as they have been invited to submit proposals. Yes, if their proposal is selected, then they will get a golden opportunity to have their work shine in the area, which is home to the UAE’s largest heritage museum.

Talking about the submission process, the proposal can be submitted via an open call process. Then, from all the submitted proposals, a few will be shortlisted by the selection committee, which will include the curator and experienced art professionals. However, it’s worth noting that a proposal for this project must reflect the historical nature of the heritage zone. While experience in developing and delivering public art projects in an urban setting is welcome, however, it’s not necessary!

A fee of AED35,000 will be given to the appointed artist. This will include the initial proposal, detailed final proposal, and project delivery through developing, leading, and participating in the programming. It will also include the final artwork design and production leading up to the public inauguration of the project and any associated launch events. But there is something in there for finalists as well! Yes, two additional finalists will also be given a fee of AED5000 for the development of the draft proposals. However, it’s worth noting that the last date for the proposal submission is April 16.

So go ahead and put on your thinking caps and while you’re at it, don’t let go of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
