Till the time I or any of you are catching the flight to Amsterdam, we can witness a similar scenery surrounded by beds and beds of tulips in Srinagar. The spring season is finally here and this is indeed the best time of the year to enjoy spectacular views of colourful tulip flowers blooming everywhere.

Formerly known as Siraj Bagh, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar is starting to open its doors for guests on March 23. The garden’s natural beauty is enhanced by the surrounding views of Dal Lake and Zabarwan Hills. Imagine walking somewhere with lakhs of flowers all around you! Seems like paradise, right? Well, you are about to experience the same at this stunning tulip garden.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is opening its doors with a lot more wonders than in previous years. According to a report by Hindustan Times, there will be 5 brand-new types of tulips this year along with the varieties showcased previously. The floriculture department worked on expanding the overall area and added about an extra 2 lakh tulips. This year, about 17 lakh tulip bulbs are blooming in a massive land of 55 hectares.

Ongoing Preparations Ahead Of The Opening:

The Floriculture Department’s spokesman shared about Srinagar Municipal Corporation organising a cleanliness drive and following sanitation procedures at the venue. Another important part of the preparations is having mobile toilet facilities for everyone.

Apart from lakhs of colourful tulips blooming in the garden, there will be spring seasonal flowers as well. This is your chance to witness beautiful flowers such as cyclamens, daffodils, hyacinths, and muscari at the largest tulip garden in Asia.
