Floatation, a boutique relaxation technique is a new trend that is catching up in the UAE. Point Zero Floatation Centre is the city’s new de-stress address! Here’s what the experience will be like.
What Is Floatation?
Floatation is a technique where you lie down inside a pod filled with warm water, mixed with Epsom Salt. The session happens in complete darkness, letting your mind relax, de-stress and eventually sleep. Spending 60-90 minutes in the pod, can feel like you’ve slept for six to eight hours.
The highlight of the technique is that the body is cut off from all the external stimuli like light, noise, gravity, smell, taste and touch. This reduction of stimuli leaves a calming effect on the nervous system and the brain, letting you relax.
The floating pods can accommodate one floater and come in various sizes. The pods are also equipped with light therapy and individual controls for lights and music. The high concentration of salt in the water causes the human body to float effortlessly, without the need for any special breathing techniques- much like floating in Jordan’s Dead sea.
How It Works
Once here, first choose where you want to float- a mini pod or a small pool, the kind of lighting and the music. You then dive into a pool of warm epsom-salt-water and float in your own mini Dead sea. You can pick from 30, 45, 60, or a 90 minute floatation session, plus a further 30 minutes for pre and post showering.
