Kempegowda International Airport, one of the biggest and busiest airports in India had quite the 2023. From an increase in the number of passengers to starting new flight routes, Bengaluru Airport unlocked new levels of achievement. It even unlocked new achievements in cargo traffic! How terrific! Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about the milestones that Bengaluru Airport achieved during the past year.

According to a press release which was recently shared, there has been an increase of 35.3 per cent in the number of passengers that the Bengaluru Airport handled. In 2022, it handled around 31.91 million passengers. However, in 2023, it handled a total of 37.2 million passengers.

Out of these, 32.7 million were domestic passengers and the rest 4.5 million were international passengers. The highest number of Air Traffic Movements or ATMS in a single day was recorded on March 17, 2023. On that day, it handled a total of 748 ATMs in a single day.

The highest number of passengers that it witnessed in the last year was on April 29, 2023. On this day, it handled a whopping 116,688 passengers. This is even more than the pre-pandemic levels!

Other Achievements That The Airport Managed To Get

It even managed to unlock new achievements when it came to cargo transport. The airport continued to be a reliable hub for the transport of PER which means perishable goods. What is more, it was the third consecutive year that the airport maintained this status.

It also started several new routes like Bengaluru-Munich and Bengaluru-Male.
