Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport’s Terminal 2 has another feather in its cap. The garden-themed Terminal 2 has just been honoured with a UNESCO recognition as one of the ‘World’s Most Beautiful Airports’. Chaired by globally renowned designer, Elie Saab, the World Judges Panel for UNESCO’s 2023 Prix Versailles unveiled the latest architectural projects across the globe to win a World Title. Bengaluru Airport’s Terminal 2 secured esteemed recognition as ‘World’s Most Beautiful Airports’. It’s the only airport in India to win this recognition. The airport’s commitment to its architecture and its exceptional design on a global scale was lauded and recognised by UNESCO.

Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport’s Terminal 2 now ranks among the top airports globally. Established in 2015, Prix Versailles focuses on ‘intelligent sustainability’. And Bengaluru Airport’s garden-themed Terminal 2 with engineered bamboo, rammed-earth walls, waterfalls, and hanging planted belts not only adds to its aesthetic beauty but also makes it a pioneer of sustainability.

The Prix Versailles recognises innovation, reflection of local heritage, creativity and values of social interaction while evaluating architectures across the globe. When it comes to T2 AKA Terminal in a Garden, ever since its inauguration on November 11, 2022 it has received accolades for its stunning interiors.

MD & CEO of Bangalore International Airport Ltd, Hari Marar expressed his joy after the airport received global recognition. He said that it was a moment of pride and they were pleased to see T2 receiving the recognition it deserves. Furthermore, he adds that T2 with its unique blend of art and technology leaves a lasting impression on global travellers. It offers them a glimpse of the rich offerings of Karnataka and India.

T2 welcomes 25 million passengers per annum. The curated art and decor elements promise to make travellers’ experience an awe-inspiring one. The sustainable design of T2 received a Platinum LEED rating by the US Green Building Council.

Now with an award for the  ‘World Special Prize for an Interior 2023’, it’s about time Bengalureans plan an international trip just to experience the marvel that Bengaluru Airport’s T2 is!
