Ask anyone living in Bengaluru, they will complain about the notorious traffic jams and narrow streets. But despite all these adversities, Bengaluru becomes the best place to live in India. According to the government’s Ease of Living Index’, the capital of Karnataka is followed by Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Surat, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, and Vadodra. While this year it is Bengaluru topping the chart. Pune was the highest-ranked city in 2020.

The Ease Of Living Index Measures The Quality Of Life

So the Ease of Living Index is a tool to evaluate the quality of life and the impact of initiatives for urban development. The tool provides an understanding based on the quality of life, its economic condition, its sustainability, and resilience. Shimla Tops The Char In Small Cities Category

In the small cities category, Shimla topped the list with a population of 1 million followed by Bhubaneshwar, Silvassa, Kakinada, and Salem. They also undertook a survey to validate citizens’ experience of their city and a total of 32.2 lakh citizens from 111 cities participated in it. Kolkata Is India’s Safest City For Women; Coimbatore & Patna Also On The List.

The survey seeks to accelerate India’s urban development outcomes. The findings from the index will not only help in better policy making but also promote healthy competition among cities, encouraging them to do better.
