Bengaluru Traffic Police Issues Advisory For The 2nd Oppn Meet; Do Not Take These Roads Today

Today in Bengaluru will mark the start of the second joint conference of opposition parties. The meeting is held to discuss tactics to challenge the governing BJP in the Lok Sabha elections of 2024. Ahead of the commencement of the meeting, the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has issued an advisory informing about the restricted roads and parking lots. The advisory urged people to take alternative routes.

Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has issued an advisory for the general public, urging them to take alternative routes as well as avoid parking at The Taj West End hotel in Bengaluru. This is in light of the opposition parties’ meeting. 

The restricted routes are: 

Cubbon Road

Palace Road

Seshadri Road

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Road

Raj Bhavan Road

Racecourse Road

Bellary Road

Parking is restricted in these areas:

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Road

Bellary Road

Raj Bhavan Road

Racecourse Road

2024 Lok Sabha Elections

The July 18 meeting’s main topics will include campaign tactics, political coalitions for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and important agenda items for the monsoon session of Parliament.

CM Siddaramaiah reviewed the plans for the informal gathering of leaders of the 24 non-BJP parties to be convened at the Taj West End Hotel in Bengaluru ahead of the two-day Opposition summit in the city.

In other events, senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai Sunday stated such gatherings have no political value and many similar meetings may take place in the days to come without having any impact. This was in advance of the opposition parties’ meeting in Bengaluru.

Many Congress leaders, including Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala, were visible in the video the CM posted. 

The meeting will be attended by many political parties, like the Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), CPI, Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), PDP, Kerala Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), CPI (M), CPI (ML), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Trinamool Congress, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), IUML, Samajwadi party and Kerala Congress (M).
