Bihar Government To Provide Free Treatment To Coronavirus Patients

Bihar leads the way amidst the coronavirus pandemic. The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar announced that the state government will provide free treatment for coronavirus patients. The Chief Minister revealed that all expenses for the treatment of any patient who tests positive for COVID-19 will be borne by the state government. This is a noble initiative taken by Bihar and is definitely the need of the hour.

Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar making a statement to the effect on the floor of the Assembly stated that the treatment cost for coronavirus will be provided from the chief minister’s relief fund.  He also stated that in the event of any death caused by the deadly virus in Bihar, the next of kin of each deceased person will receive ₹4 lakhs as compensation.

The measures being taken by the state to keep the virus at bay in Bihar, where nobody has been tested positive for the virus, was also discussed by the chief minister. Bihar has also shut down educational institutions, cinema halls and public parks till 31st March. The Chief Minister revealed that Group C and Group D personnel of all government departments have been urged to report for duty on alternate days in order to prevent crowding of office premises. The Chief Minister spoke on the last day of the Budget session which was scheduled to end on 31st March, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was cut short. He revealed that intensive screening of people was being carried out at transit points. He also added that people with symptoms of the virus were being quarantined and expenses are being borne by the government. They are being quarantined for a stipulated period of time. Medical infrastructure is also being strengthened to help detect the virus at an early stage and hospitals are being equipped with additional isolation wards and ventilators.
