Humans are considered to be the smartest species on the planet. However, every so often an incident occurs that might make you seriously question the truth of the statement. In a series of incidents that can only be termed bizarre, a woman in Spain choked on some food. That is not the bizarre part. The bizarre part is that she attempted to dislodge the food with a toothbrush but then ended up swallowing the toothbrush itself!

Identified as Heizea, the female claimed to have eaten turkey before the toothbrush landed inside her. She tried to force the food out of her throat when things went wrong and she accidentally gulped down the brushing tool.

A woman in Galdako, Spain, recently experienced a bizarre, almost unbelievable turn of events. Identified as Heizea, she is 21 years old. On November 29, 2023, she claimed that she was eating turkey when suddenly, she started choking on it. She said she was panicking and couldn’t ask anyone else to help. Her father was stuck in a wheelchair owing to an Achilles tendon injury.
So, she said that she had to act fast. In her panic, she grabbed the first thing she could find and tried to dislodge the food from the airway. It just so happened that she grabbed her toothbrush. As she was trying to clear the airway, in which she was successful, the toothbrush slipped from her grasp and she ended up swallowing it whole! It sounds almost unbelievable!
She said that once the airway became clear, the toothbrush just got sucked in! She was then rushed to a hospital’s emergency room. One incredible thing to note is that during the entire ordeal, Heizea said that she felt absolutely no pain! However, she was still taken to the emergency room to have the toothbrush removed.

Toothbrush Removed Without Surgery
When she reached the hospital, she said that the hospital staff had a hard time taking her word for the incident and didn’t really believe her until an X-ray showed the toothbrush. Then ensued examinations which went on for three long hours. After these examinations, the dental instrument was safely and successfully extracted from the patient.
One good thing was that the lady did not require surgery. The toothbrush was removed from her body non-surgically. In a process that took around 40 minutes to finish, a surgical twine was employed to loop in the head of the toothbrush and pull it outside of her. The process was successful and the toothbrush was safely extracted from the lady. Her full name was not revealed so as to protect the identity of the Spanish woman.
