By attracting new residents, the town hopes to preserve its history and stimulate its socioeconomic growth by launching the scheme. If you are buying a house in Pratola Peligna, you must file renovation plans within six months of the purchase. Unlike other towns that have included deposit or residency requirements, Pratola Peligna is imposing a €10,000 fine for new homeowners if they don’t file renovation plans within six months. The rule is put into place to ensure people don’t just buy the home and continue to let it fall apart. Those who already own buildings are also being asked to renovate and give a facelift to their homes.

The Italian Town Has Scenic Views & Winding Passageways

Pratola Peligna is popular not just for its proximity to some of Italy’s best ski resorts, but also for its scenic views and winding passageways among pastel homes. Renovations are particularly necessary for this region near top ski resorts which has suffered a population decline. While there were about 13,000 residents in the 1930s, the population has reduced to 7,000 now.
