By Processing 1,00,000 Tonnes Of Waste, This UAE Firm Can Power 2000+ Homes For A Year

We all participated in the ‘Best Out of Waste’ game while growing up. Little did we know that it would be the need of the hour someday! Sharjah Waste To Energy Plant in the Middle East was inaugurated about a year ago. It has achieved many feats in this period. The recent achievement of this UAE firm is that it has processed 1,00,000 tonnes of waste, which can power over 2000 homes for a year.

UAE Firm Processes Waste To Generate Power

Sharjah Waste To Energy Plant in the Middle East has been an integral part of the Sharjah electrical grid.

The United Arab Emirates is currently confronted with a problem in which approximately 60% of its greenhouse gas emissions are caused by the decomposition of household and industrial waste in landfills.

Since its inception, the waste-to-energy plant has processed more than 100,000 tonnes of waste. This is equivalent to the waste generated by 180,000 people per year, resulting in the recovery of more than 250 tonnes of valuable metals during its operational phase.

Sharjah has reached an extraordinary milestone in its ongoing journey towards a zero-waste-to-landfill goal, with a waste diversion rate of 90 percent.
