Cafe Bahar In Hyderabad Is Serving Biryani Since 1973

Ask anybody in Hyderabad to name their favorite biryani and there might be a riot of answers. Among them, you might spot a frequent mention of “Cafe Bahar!” This is primarily because the mentioned food joint has been serving the iconic Hyderabadi Biryani since 1973 (yep, when a lot of us were probably not even embryos).

There’s never a quiet moment here. Cafe Bahar usually sees a frequent line of patrons that stretches right upto the end of the street. The real deal is for you to spot a table and then claim it. Even though their claim to fame is the biryani, they also make some pretty neat kebabs. Start with their Chicken Tikka Kebabs (8 pieces for Rs 180) and if you’re a large group of people, call in for their Mutton Boti Kebabs (8 pieces, Rs 220) too.

A Persian settler is the originator of the restaurant and they are known to serve generous amounts of food. Just a heads up on their meal quantities so that you avoid ordering excess food. Let’s get to their Hyderabadi Biryani (Rs 290) that’s not only the talk of town but also attracts quite a large fan-following across the country. You can also ask for double masala in yours and they’ll happily oblige. The meat pieces are well cooked and the coated spices cook it to perfection — falling off the bone perfection. A single plate of biryani can serve 2 people well and if its 4 of you, we’d recommend ordering their Family Pack.

Also extremely popular for its Haleem, Ramadan is a great time to taste another Cafe Bahar delicacy. For wider biryani cravings, we’d suggest you go for their classic Mutton Biryani (Rs 290) or the Chicken Biryani (Rs 270) which they cook ‘dum’ style. The charcoal adds a layer of flavor that’s heightened and hard to resist. They also serve the Ramadan classic, Chicken 65 (Rs 110) and we don’t need to mention, but it’s pretty darn good too.

Cafe Bahar isn’t just a one-meal stop. It’s one of those places you keep coming back, just for another plate of *THAT* beautiful biryani.
