On December 1, Better.com, CEO Vishal Garg held a Zoom call meeting where he had heartbreaking news just ahead of the holiday season. Garg announced laying off 900 employees of Better.com from India and the USA. In the video, he revealed that if the employees were part of this unlucky group, then they were being laid off. Their termination is effective immediately. Vishal Garg said that as the market has changed and in order for Better.com, to survive, thrive and continue its mission, this decision needed to be taken. Garg also mentioned that it’s the second time in his career he needed to take a harsh decision. The last time he admitted to crying. But this time he hopes to be stronger.

CEO Vishal Garg Held A-Zoom Call Meeting To Announce The Same

Better.com is laying off 15 per cent of its workforce for reasons including performance, productivity, efficiency and the market. During the video, he goes on to add that 250 of these 900 employees were clocking in work for just 2 hours a day. There has been a severe drop in employee performance. The CEO of the US-based digital company revealed that terminated employees will get four weeks of severance pay, a month of full benefits and two months of cover-up, which the company shall pay with a premium. This news is indeed heartbreaking as many people have lost their jobs amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
