One of the best things about India is the many festivals that are celebrated around the year in this country! To start with, Lohri, Makar Sankranti, and Pongal are the first few festivals that are celebrated across the country under different names but with the same love and joy. Keeping up with this spirit of festivity, Chhattisgarh’s annual Makar Sankranti celebrations – Tatapani Mahotsav – are back in Balarampur. This three-day festivity began on 14th January and will go on till 16th January in Tattapani.

Located in Balarampur, Tatapani is a popular religious destination among tourists in Chhattisgarh. The place is very famous for its rare water ponds and the massive statue of Shiva installed here. Tattapani is also named after these hot water springs as its name literally means ‘hot water’ in the local language. Around Makar Sankranti each year, this city hosts an annual celebration called Tatapani Mahotsav. This celebration sees religious and cultural amalgamation with many devotees arriving to perform puja and enjoy the many cultural events awaiting them here.

 

The celebrations this year started on 14th January and will be on till 16th January. The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, inaugurated the Tatapani Mahotsav – an event that sees lakhs of devotees from across the country flocking to this city during this event.

There is an amazingly talented line-up for the cultural events happening at this event. You can witness the magical performances of the very talented and famous Chhattisgarhi singer, Sunil Soni here. Legendary singer Udit Narayan and Bhojpuri star Nirahua will follow this with some more awesome performances. To add more stars to Tatapani Mahotsav, India’s Got Talent Season 10’s winner Abujhmad Mallakhamb Academy will also be setting the stage on fire.
