PM Narendra Modi held a grand roadshow in Ghatkopar as a part of his Lok Sabha election campaign for 2024. Ahead of the prime minister’s arrival in the city, Mumbai Police already announced important traffic diversions in different areas. On Wednesday afternoon, just before 3 PM, Mumbai Police announced a partial suspension of metro services. This sudden pause caused major chaos among commuters and massive crowds were reported in some places.

Metro Services Paused Between Jagruti Nagar Metro Station & Ghatkopar Metro Station

Taking to X, Mumbai Metro (@MumbaiMetro01) updated Mumbaikars about the temporary suspension of metro services between Jagruti Nagar metro station and Ghatkopar metro station from 6 PM till further notice.

The decision to stop metro operations in such peak hours turned out to be quite a chaotic situation for commuters. It was at 7:46 PM when full metro services resumed between Ghatkopar and Versova. The duration of the suspension of the metro was the peak time for office-goers returning home. Metro stations, roads, and railway stations see an epic crowd at such hours every day. With the sudden suspension of metro services, the crowd only increased excessively at the Ghatkopar metro station.

Many Netizens took to the X platform to share pictures and videos of lakhs of people stranded at the Ghatkopar metro station and complained about all the issues they faced yesterday. Here are some X posts of social media users complaining about yesterday evening’s scary conditions.

Social media users complained how the notification post regarding the suspension of services between two busy metro stations was quite late, considering the alert for the peak rush hours. Many pointed out how the concerned authorities could have informed about this in advance as it would have helped people to make plans accordingly.
