Jiaxing’s New Train Station Will Be More Beautiful, Efficient And Humane

Nestled in southeastern China and interconnected to Shanghai and Hangzhou, Jiaxing is the key city of several industries. The train station was built in 1907 and was destroyed 30 years later amid the second Sino-Japanese War. And now finally after so many years, the 87 acres train station is set to reopen. The new version of the train station includes a one-to-one scale, archival-led rebuild of the original station, as well as updates to the adjacent People’s Park and the north and south plazas.

The project which is known as the “Train Station in the Forest,” is led by Ma Yansong, who says train stations in China compete against each other in the pursuit to be bigger, grander, and more monumental than the last. Ma Yansong is aiming to make the station more beautiful, comfortable, efficient and humane.

The Old Railway Station Will Be Converted Into A Museum

Plans for the new station are new, futuristic, and forward-thinking. When it comes to the design, all commerce elements will be placed underground, whereas, the ground floor of the station will act as an extension of the surrounding natural scenery, eventually creating the feeling of a borderless park. It will be airy, sleek, and will have stunning skylight ceilings, glass curtain walls and more.

In addition to functioning as the city centre transportation hub for long-distance and local services, the station will also serve to revitalize the area that is currently in a state of decay. The old station will be converted into a museum and be visible from various level walkways. With everything falling in place, we can’t wait for the station to be all up and ready.
