But not in the future as India’s longest expressway is under construction now! The Delhi-Mumbai expressway is expected to be complete by December 2024 which will actually cut down travel time between the two metro cities by 12 hours!

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is said to be completed by December 2024. This news was given out by a senior government official.
Anurag Jain, Road, Transport and Highways Secretary said that this new development will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Mumbai by 12 hours. Currently, it takes about 24-25 hours by road.
This expressway is said to be the longest expressway in India with a length of 1,386 Km. He explained that the vehicles running on this expressway will be running at a speed of 120 kmph.
A stretch of 245 km passes through Madhya Pradesh, out of the 1,386 Km long Delhi-Mumbai expressway. Work in the eight columns out of nine in the state has already been completed.

The official announced that Indore would host the country’s first of four planned Multi-Modal Logistics Parks. By September, 300 acres of land would have been purchased for the project, and development would then begin under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Jain examined the 26,000 crore rupee national highway projects being carried out in MP. So far, these initiatives have built almost 7,700 km of roads across the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway, which is the first stretch on February 12. This inauguration brought in the cities that enroute this expressway much closer. For instance, the distance between Delhi and Jaipur reduced to 3 and a half instead of five hours
