What’s More?

The plan to develop catamaran services in Mumbai has been underway since the past 30 years. Mahindra & Mahindra, CIDCO and IL&FS launched a hovercraft service in Mumbai in 1996. The 50-seater craft took around 40 minutes to commute from Juhu-Chowpatty beach and it was airconditioned. This services ran five times a day. However, in 1998, this project ran into losses and was abandoned. However, there are other water transport projects like Mumbai-Alibaug Roro Service which will launch this month. And the launching on catamaran services connecting Navi Mumbai and South Mumbai is definitely something to look forward to in the month of May.
