Goan Cows Turn Non-Vegetarian; Sent For Treatment

Right when we thought we had seen every bizarre thing possible, cows in Goa have gone and surprised us. According to the news coming in from the coastal state, cows in Calangute have been sent for treatment. What treatment, you wonder? Well, looks like the cows have changed their dietary preference and are only eating non-vegetarian food. Yes, you heard that right. Stray cattle in Calangute are refusing to eat vegetarian food and gram and are instead eating leftover scraps of chicken and fried fish. Now, exactly how weird is that?

What’s Wrong With The Cows?

Most non-vegetarians love their chicken and fish but what is making these herbivores munch on tangdis? The answer to that question is actually pretty simple. With more and more restaurants dumping their excess food waste in open garbage bins, the cows have been drawn to the food. And they seem to particularly like the taste of stale fried fish which is a street food and restaurant staple in Goa. All efforts of feeding these cows vegetarian food, gram and special feed have gone in vain as they are just not interested in snacking on it. The cows aren’t to blame at all because even the villagers have been feeding them non-vegetarian which is an extremely unethical practice.

According to the Goa’s minister for waste management, Michael Lobo, veterinary specialists have been asked to step in to help turn the cows into vegetarians again. He said, “We have lifted 76 cattle from Calangute and taken them to the gaushala where they are being looked after. The cattle had turned non-vegetarian cattle here. We always say cattle are vegetarian. But cattle from Calangute are non-vegetarian. They (gaushala operators) are facing this issue now. These cattle do not eat grass. They neither eat gram nor special feed which is given to them,”.

The animals are currently undergoing medical treatment and are supposed to be turned back to vegetarianism within the next 4-5 days. Their digestive systems have become like those of human beings. Earlier the sight and smell of non-vegetarian food would repel them but now they are drawn to it.

We have come to the conclusion that anything is possible in today’s time!
